The Cold Spring Special Board for a Comprehensive Plan/LWRP will release its proposed plan to the public this Wednesday, Sept. 29. The Special Board will hold informal information meetings on Sept. 30 and Oct. 7, both at 7:30 p.m. at the VFW hall on Kemble Avenue, to brief the community and answer questions before the formal hearing is held. A public hearing on the proposed plan is scheduled for Oct. 14, at 7:30 pm at the Cold Spring firehouse at Main and Church Streets. The Special Board will vote on recommending the proposed plan at a subsequent meeting.
Other milestones will come as the village trustees consider the plan. They may ask for comment from various boards and other interested parties: a process that may take additional time. State law requires the Village Board to hold its own hearing, which will provide another opportunity for public participation. Before the Village can vote to adopt the plan, State law also requires that it prepare a State-approved Environmental Quality Report. After a Comprehensive Plan is adopted there will be further opportunities for public participation as zoning and regulatory changes are proposed to implement the plan.
