Loretto Council No. 536 of the Knights of Columbus (K of C) is sponsoring the local-level 2011 Free Throw Championship for boys and girls ages 10 to 14. It will be held on Saturday, Jan. 22 (snow date, Sunday, Jan. 23), at 10:30 a.m., at the Capuchin Youth and Family Ministries Gym on Route 9D in Garrison. The Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local, district, regional, and state competitions.  The K of C international headquarters announces international champions based on scores from the state-level competitions.  Last year more than 344,000 sharpshooters participated in over 4,700 local competitions.
       The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with over 1.7 million members. Last year, Knights donated over 68 million volunteer hours and over $150 million to charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.
