Daniel J. Sucur, age 81, of Fleishmanns, N.Y. died on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor. Born Nov. 5, 1929 in Troyes France, he was the son of the Vassilie and Alfreda (Benjamin) Sucur. He was born a premature baby and struggled through his first few days of life. He had a few struggles throughout life, then, left the world the same way, fighting to live.
There are no words to express the immense loss we feel, of our father, a husband, a brother, an uncle, and a good friend, Daniel Sucur. He was a kind, generous and thoughtful man, full of life and love. He had a passion for family, friends, and cooking, for he was a French Chef by trade. His mission was to make people happy with his delicious meals. Incredibly friendly, he always reached out to people. There were no strangers in his world. Ready to help others, he wanted to save the world. People always think that their father, brother, or husband is the best. But with regards to Daniel, also known as “Papa”, he truly was the best human being ever created.
He is survived by his wife Liliane (Gonfalone) Sucur; his son, Charles Sucur and wife Leslie, of Southlake, TX; his daughter, Nathalie Yavonditte and husband Michael, of Garrison, N.Y.; three brothers, Maurice, Michel, and Jean Sucur; three sisters, Katia Contresty, Genevieve Deuther, and Claudie Grosbety; and three grandchildren, Brigitte and Celine Sucor, and Danny Yavonditte.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair Street, Cold Spring, N.Y. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott St in Cold Spring. In lieu flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Sucur’s name to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
