Ice cream truck returns to Cold Spring
By Alison Rooney
It was the twelve-year-old in my household who heard it first: the siren song of the ice cream truck. Thinking it was someone’s new cell phone ringtone, I had tuned it out, but a race down the stairs by my daughter confirmed this most welcome of sights. An ice cream truck used to roam the streets of Cold Spring regularly, but the driver retired, and the truck has rarely been seen since.
Braving the 99-degree heat my daughter and I sprinted across the street, breaking our previous record for speed, just in time to catch the truck. As the snowcone was handed over, the driver said that it was just his first day out in Cold Spring. The magic words followed: “I’ll be back tomorrow.”
