Biological management of soils

Glynwood’s CSA Manager Dave Llewellyn will give a presentation demystifying soil science and basic plant physiology in order to improve the quality of your veggies. The workshop takes place on Saturday, March 17, from 10 a.m. to noon, and begins at the office building.

Participants will gain a basic understanding of how specific nutrients relate to plant functions. The application of this knowledge yields crops loaded with nutrients, great flavor, improved shelf-life, and improved resistance to pest and disease pressure. Practical skills, such as soil sampling, interpreting soil test results, and choosing fertilizers, will be discussed and demonstrated, with plenty of time for Q & A.

This workshop is intermediate level and recommended for both home gardeners and farmers. Participants should expect to walk about a half mile during this workshop, some uphill. The $25 workshop fee may be paid at the door or upon registration; it includes morning coffee and tea. To register, call Anita Barber at 845-265-3338.
