Philipstown Rec gives chance to sing and dance at Depot Theatre

The Philipstown Recreation Department is taking reservations for the 1st- 3rd graders class for The Depot Theatre’s Musical Mystery Tour. Lisa Sabin will be leading 1st-3rd graders and 4th-12th graders (whose class is full) in this show.

Similar to last season’s Gleeful Project classes, the show will be shaped with each individual child in mind. Assisting Lisa will be Christine Brooks Bokhour, who has been seen on Broadway in leading roles in Chicago and Cats as well as at The Depot in last spring’s The Way of the World.

The aim of the class is to make each child comfortable and feel successful while being challenged along the way. Solos and group numbers will be determined based on each child’s comfort level, as well as with the goal of crafting an entertaining show. Though every effort will be made to evenly distribute stage time, this is not always possible.

Classes take place on Fridays beginning Jan. 18 and runs for 10 weeks, with no class Feb. 15 or March 29. The class for grades 1-3 meet from 4 – 5 p.m. and costs $250 for resident and $265 for non-resident. Grades 4-12 will meet 5 6:30 p.m. and costs $310 resident and $335 for non-resident.

Additional rehearsals will be held Tuesday through Thursday, April 2-4 from 4 to 7 p.m. Performances are scheduled for Friday through Sunday, April 5-7. Call 845-424-4618 to register.
