Three boys arrested and charged with juvenile delinquency

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith has announced the arrest of three local teenage boys in connection with a fire at the old Butterfield Hospital building on Chestnut Street in Cold Spring.

In a statement released Thursday evening, May 16, the Sheriff’s Office said the boys ranging 14-15 years old entered the building unlawfully on May 5 and that one of the boys lit a pile of paper on fire. Local fire and police responded to a fire alarm. The fire was extinguished with no damage to the building and no injuries reported.

After the investigation the three boys were arrested and charged with juvenile delinquency. They were issued desk appearance tickets returnable to the county Probation Department. Due to their ages the names of the accused were withheld.
