Reported Domestic Disturbance Results in Arrest of Young Man from Peekskill

Garrison home involved in alleged incident

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department July 3 reported the arrest of a 19-year-old from Peekskill on charges of involvement in a domestic dispute in Garrison.

The department said that on June 22, sheriff’s deputies and New York State troopers responded to a 911 call about an altercation at a property on Valley Lane. The department said an investigation subsequently indicated that a man got into an argument at the home of a former acquaintance, was asked to leave, did so, but then returned, climbed through a window, and engaged in a further argument that reportedly turned physically abusive, with some of the home’s contents damaged. A child in the residence then called 911, the Sheriff’s Department said.

An individual identified as Michael A. Murphy, of Stuhr Gardens, was arrested in the case and charged with 2nd-degree burglary, a violent felony; two counts of criminal mischief, and a single count of endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The department added that the suspect was arraigned and released without bail pending a court appearance July 10.
