Benefit for Lovell family

The North Highlands Fire Department hosts a pizza night this coming Friday, Jan. 17, at the firehouse at 504 Fishkill Road, near the intersection with Route 9. The event will benefit the family of Jim Lovell, a North Highlands resident killed in the Dec. 1 Metro-North train derailment.

Pizzas will be available for take-out only. Orders can be placed starting at 1 p.m. Friday. Pizzas can be picked up starting at 4 p.m. and the sale will continue through approximately 8 p.m., or “until they’re sold out,” as Councilor John Van Tassel explained at the Philipstown Town Board meeting last Thursday (Jan. 9). “It’s home-made, fresh dough. So call early. They go quickly,” he advised. He said on a typical pizza night, the NHFD sells 80 to 90 pizzas.

Orders may be placed by calling the fire department at 845-265-9595.
