The Garrison Art Center is partnering with the Cold Spring Lions’ Club to bring a Writing and Bookbinding Workshop for Seniors to the Friendship Center in Cold Spring. There is no charge for this workshop.

Professional writer Kathy Curto will give seniors guidance on how to write a short memoir piece, a work of fiction, or journal writing. Teaching artist Christina DiMarco will introduce seniors to the ancient art of Suminagashi, “ink floating on water,” to create beautiful marbled book covers for their handmade books. They will also learn how to bind their books. The finished book can be a cherished keepsake or a personal gift for a family member or friend.

Workshops will meet on six Wednesdays — Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26, March 5 and 12 — from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Call the Garrison Art Center to register at 845-424-3960 or the Friendship Center at 845-265-3952.
