Pet owners must bring proof of Putnam County residency
A free rabies vaccination clinic will be held for dogs, cats and ferrets Saturday, March 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sponsored by the Putnam County Department of Health, the clinic is being held at South Putnam Animal Hospital, 230B Baldwin Place Road, Mahopac, and is open to all Putnam County residents.
Photo IDs will be required as proof of Putnam County residency, and without a written certificate documenting prior rabies vaccination (tags will not be accepted), a pet will only receive a one-year rabies vaccine. All dogs must be leashed, and cats and ferrets must be in carriers. An animal information/release form will be available and can be completed at the clinic site.
For more information and directions, call the Putnam County Department of Health at 845-808-1390, ext. 43127, or visit their website at putnamcountyny.com/health, on Facebook at facebook.com/putnamhealth, and on Twitter @PutnamHealthNY.
Could we possibly hope that this mandated service will also be made available on this end of Putnam County in future years? Rabies shots and tags added to the collar are the law so it would be great to know this in advance (just had this done at the vet’s office).
