Boscobel will present Sparkle! 2014 during the month of December, when the gardens and grounds will showcase lighting displays. Returning this year will be Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, the Sparkle Queen Stilt Walker, ice-carving demonstrations, the Taghanik Chorale and the Manhattanville Sound. New for 2014 will be acoustic guitar soloist Rick Soedler, a light-up magic show with Margaret Steele and illuminated hoop dancing performances with the Sparkle Spinners.

The mansion itself will be decorated for visitors, with Twilight Tours ongoing each evening. Guided tours are led by engaging docents who will share 19th-century entertaining customs in an atmosphere designed to transport guests back in time.

This year, Sparkle! will offer a new selection of food for purchase onsite from Hudson Hil’s Café of Cold Spring, who will prepare fresh sandwiches, chili, soup and more to help warm guests as they enjoy the outdoor, all-weather, illumination event.

Sparkle! takes place the first three Fridays and Saturdays of the month, from 5 to 9 p.m. Two ticket levels are available: Grounds Only and Grounds Plus, which includes a Twilight Tour. (Twilight Tours are by advance reservation only, and space is limited.) Tickets are on sale at In the event of severe weather, Boscobel may choose to cancel or reschedule; call or check the website for details.

Boscobel is located on Route 9D in Garrison, just one mile south of Cold Spring. It is open every day except Tuesdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. For more information, visit or call 845-265-3638.
