Frances M. Bedford, age 84, of Cold Spring, New York, died on Friday, March 13, 2015, at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor. Born in Garrison on March 2, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John and Maria Immacolota (Devarti) Verlingieri. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard M. Bedford Jr., in 1972.

Bedford, a lifelong area resident, was a homemaker. In her earlier years she worked for the former Marathon Battery Company in Cold Spring. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Loretto Church and a member of the Philipstown Senior Citizens.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Marilyn Keener of Middletown; one sister, Rose M. Immorlica of Cold Spring; and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceasing her, in addition to her husband, was a son, Howard John Bedford; two sisters, Josephine Turturro and Angelina Bronco; and one brother, John Verlingieri.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair St. in Cold Spring. Interment will follow in the Cold Spring Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clinton Funeral Home, at the corner of Parrott and Pine Streets (21 Parrott St.) in Cold Spring, on Monday, March 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in Bedford’s name to the Cold Spring Fire Company No. 1, 154 Main St., Cold Spring, NY 10516.
