Opening reception at Howland Cultural Center on Nov. 7

The Howland Cultural Center will host a reception for the opening of its latest exhibit, You Are My Blue, I Am Your Red, on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 3 to 6 p.m.

The exhibit features the work of two poets and two visual artists. The collaboration began when Pawling artist and photographer Bibiana Huang Matheis developed a series of nature photographs titled “Blue.” When a Poughkeepsie friend, Bettina “Poet Gold” Wilkerson, saw the images, she was moved to write words to accompany the photos.

Later, Huang Matheis invited another friend and collaborator, Mimi Czajka Graminski, to join the project. She created a parallel series in red and invited poet Sarah Stern, who she had met at the Howland Cultural Center.

The exhibit is open from 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday through Dec. 20. For more information, call 845-831-4988. The Howland Cultural Center is located at 477 Main Street.
