State Asking for Input on Common Core

Online survey offers chance for review

The state Department of Education has posted a survey online to allow residents to comment on the Common Core standards being used in public schools, including Haldane, Garrison and Beacon. Specifically, the department is reviewing its 12 standards in English Language Arts/Literacy.

“The results of the survey will directly inform any changes that we make,” said Commissioner MaryEllen Elia. The New York State Board of Regents adopted the Common Core standards in 2011.

The survey is located at nysed.gov/aimhighny.
