Common Ground Farm to host gourd art workshop

Common Ground Farm will host a family workshop at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 to select, carve, paint, burn, and finish gourds to create bowls, birdhouses, lanterns, vases, creatures and other artwork.

The workshop is open to children ages 4 and up who are accompanied by an adult. The fee is $20 for a parent and one child or $35 for a parent and two children and includes all materials. To register, visit commongroundfarm.org, or for more info, email [email protected].

The farm also has started taking orders for its $30 Thanksgiving Harvest boxes, which include a selection of butternut or other winter squash, carrots, turnips, and other root vegetables, sweet potatoes, onions or leeks and cabbage, kale or other greens. Pick-up dates are Friday, Nov. 23 or Saturday, Nov. 24. A dried flower centerpiece from Diana Mae Flowers can be added for an additional $15. Email [email protected] to reserve a box.

Common Ground Farm is located at 79 Farmstead Lane, off Route 9D in Wappingers Falls, about two miles north of the intersection with Interstate 84 on the grounds of Stony Kill Farm Environmental Education Center.
