Bags designed for children in emergency room

A contingent of Hudson Highlands Girl Scouts met recently with Verna Thorne, a volunteer at New York-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor, to donate 150 gift bags to distribute to children being treated in the Emergency Department.

Thorne began the gift-bag program at the hospital 12 years ago. Each bag contains coloring pages, crayons, stickers and a stuffed animal to help children relax and give them something fun to do.
