Seeking community members to fill roles

To mark its 30th anniversary season, the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival will be presenting Thornton Wilder’s Our Town with members of the community performing as actors, singers and dancers. The production’s director, John Christian Plummer, has scheduled workshops in Philipstown, Beacon, Newburgh and Peekskill to introduce the project and conduct theater and team-building exercises.

The Philipstown workshops take place in Garrison at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 at the Desmond-Fish Library at 472 Route 403. In Beacon the workshop will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 11, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, at St. Andrew’s Church, 17 South Ave.

The Newburgh workshops at Safe Harbors of the Hudson, Lobby at the Ritz, 107 Broadway, are set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30. The Peekskill workshops will take place at the Paramount Theater at 1008 Brown St., at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 2.

Following the introductory workshops, there will be two full-group workshops for those who would like to take part in the production. They will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at St. Mary’s Church in Cold Spring and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, at the Desmond-Fish Library.
