Shanghai Quartet Returns to Howland

Group will perform on May 1

The Shanghai Quartet — Weigang Li and Yi-Wen Jiang on violin, Honggang Li on viola and Nicholas Tzavaras on cello —returns to the Howland Cultural Center for a performance at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 1.

Formed at the Shanghai Conservatory in 1983, the quartet has been a regular performer at leading chamber music festivals. At its concert in Beacon, the group will play the String Quartet No. 20 in D Major, K 499 by Mozart, the String Quartet No. 1 in A Minor by Bela Bartok and the String Quartet in G Minor by Edvard Grieg.
