Non-profits set May 18 as donation day

More than 175 Hudson Valley nonprofits have signed on to participate in Hudson Valley Gives, a 24-hour online fundraising event to be held on Wednesday, May 18. To donate, visit hvgives.org.

The event includes Highlands Current Inc., the publisher of this website and The Highlands Current as well as other non-profits such as the Hudson Highlands Land Trust, the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Mid Hudson Animal Aid, Hudson Valley Seed, I Am Beacon, the American Cancer Society of the Hudson Valley and the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum.

Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region and Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, which organized the event, hope it will raise money and awareness through social media for not-for-profit organizations in six counties, including Putnam and Dutchess. More than $5,000 in incentives will be awarded by the Dyson Foundation to non-profits that collect the most donations.
