Joseph Luchetta, Jr., 63, of Cold Spring, died on June 22, 2016, at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie surrounded by his family. He was the eldest son of Joseph and Marie Luchetta of Nelsonville.

Joe was born on Sept. 16, 1952, and was a lifelong area resident. He was employed as a butcher at Sam’s Club in Fishkill. For several years Joe was a coach for the Little League Yankees with his good friends John “Jiggum” Merante and Tom “Fred” Virgadamo. He was an avid sports fan loyal to all New York teams, even through the difficult years, including the Giants, Yankees, Rangers and Knicks.

He is survived by his children Jennifer Luchetta of Newburgh; Major Joseph Luchetta III and his wife Gayla of Richmond, Virginia; George Luchetta; and Tina Luchetta of Fishkill. He was very proud of his four beautiful grandchildren, Gavin, Ava, Brayden and Emma. He is also survived by his sisters Janice Nuzzo and husband Michael; Betty Stroman; and Holly Giachinta, and his brother Fred Luchetta and wife Judy, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Joe was a loving father, grandfather and friend to all that knew him. He will be missed more than he could imagine.

A funeral service under the direction of the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home of Fishkill will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, at the Cold Spring Cemetery. The family will be there to greet relatives and friends. A lunch will be held at Anthony’s Catering in Hopewell Junction immediately following the service.
