Crews will shut off water flow to the area surrounding the repair and may open fire hydrants to alleviate pressure. As a result, residents there may experience a period of little or no water pressure and discoloration after pressure is restored. The agencies recommend running the cold-water tap until the clear.

The Village has contracted New York Leak Detection to perform a survey of the distribution system to find the sources of about 70,000 to 80,000 gallons of water lost each day. So far five leaks have been detected, including this valve, and four others on private lines will be repaired or replaced next week.
