Lena Barr (1923-2016)
Lena (O’Brien) Barr, 93, died on July 23, 2016, in Newburyport, Mass. She is survived by her children, who include Ruthanne Cullinan Barr and husband Michael of Milford, N.H., and Cold Spring, as well as 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
Josephine M. Rupp (1921-2016)
Josephine M. Rupp, 94, of Greenwich, Conn., died on July 22, 2016. She was the third of five sisters raised by a widowed mother during the Depression and later one of the first women to be instructed in writing binary code. She also worked at Greenwich Hospital for 30 years as a nurse. Among her survivors is a daughter, Johanna Rupp (Charles Nolen) of Cold Spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich (bgcg.org).
