Ryan Cunningham
Ryan Andrew Cunningham, 31, died unexpectedly at his home in Germantown, Maryland. His survivors include his brother, Shaun Cunningham (Brandon Patterson) of Beacon. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Arbor Day Foundation or the Sierra Club.
Sybil Ferland (1914-2016)
Sybil M. Ferland of East Fishkill died at home on July 26, 2016, her 102nd birthday. A native of Vermont, she was a resident of East Fishkill for 78 years. Survivors include her son, Donald Ferland (Mary) of Beacon.
Patricia Norton (1936-2016)
Patricia Norton, 80, of Beacon, died at home on July 25, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born in Beacon on Jan. 26, 1936, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Carroll) Coone.
Before she retired, Patricia worked for New York Telephone as an operator and at Texaco Research. She enjoyed vacationing at the ocean, spending time with her family, making sure they were all fed and setting a great example of what a Christian should be while loving unconditionally. She was an inspiration to her family and will be greatly missed, She was a devout member of St. Joachim Church and will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother.
Patricia is survived by daughters Paula Greene (David Fuller) and Patricia Hiland and grandchildren Malinda Butler (Drew), David Greene, Donald Hiland, Matthew Hiland, Andrew Hiland and Crystal Fuller, as well as a great-granddaughter, Serenity Greene. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Norton, brothers Joseph and Tommy Coone and sister Betty McAuliffe.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on July 29 at St. Joachim Church with interment at its cemetery.
Helen Joan Peters (1937-2016)
Helen Joan Peters, 78, of Beacon, died at home on July 28, 2016, surrounded by her family. Born on October 27, 1937, in Peekskill, she was the daughter of Webster and Lena (Mason) Feltman. Her husband, Harry Peters, died in 2008.
Helen is survived by her children Cynthia Mazzuca Fabbiano (Archie), Edward Peters (Carol) and Jeffrey Peters (Laura), grandchildren Philip and Marc Mazzuca, Christopher Mazzuca (Victoria), Kai Peterson (Diana), Randi Young (Darren), Evelyn Brennie (Matthew), Edward Peters, Jr. (Jamie) and Nicholas Peters and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Lough and Virginia Simpson and her brother Kenneth Feltman and his wife Pam.
A funeral service was held on Aug. 2 at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home in Fishkill.
Kathleen Tobin (1927-2016)
Kathleen Tobin, 89, a longtime resident of Beacon, died on July 25, 2016, in Newburgh. She was born in County Galway in Ardrahan, Ireland on February 27, 1927, the daughter of Martin and Katie (Jordan) Maloney.
Kathleen married William J. Tobin, who died in 1978. She retired from IBM in East Fishkill. Kathleen was a parishioner of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon. She is survived by sons Michael Tobin (Lorraine) of Portland, Oregon; Brian Tobin (Victoria) of Glendale, Calif.; and Kevin J. Tobin of Key West, Fla., and grandchildren, Martin Tobin and Rebecca Carrothers. She is also survived by a brother, William F. Maloney of Yonkers and sister, Agnes Downey of Carlow, Ireland.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on July 30 at St. John the Evangelist Church, with burial following at St. Joachim Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence (hospiceoforange.com).
Robert M. West (1934-2016)
Robert Monroe West, 82, of Beacon, died on July 26, 2016, at his home. Born in Poughkeepsie on May 25, 1934, he was the son of Percy and Harriet (Smith) West.
Known to his family and friends as “Honky Tonk,” Robert was a letter carrier for Metro-North at Croton Harmon for 36 years. He was also a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Larraine McNair Williams, Paula McNair, Barbara McNair, John McNair, Arlene McNair Russell, Donna West Finger and Elizabeth West Freeman. He was predeceased by two brothers, Howard West and Marshall West, a sister, Frances West McNair, and a niece, Sharon McNair.
Services were held on Aug. 1 at the Libby Funeral Home in Beacon, with interment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any veterans’ organization.
