How Green is Your Thumb?

Master Gardener training begins Sept. 7

On Sept. 7, the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County will begin a weekly, 15-session Master Gardener certification course in Carmel covering botany, entomology, plant pathology, soil and turf science, perennials, annuals, trees and shrubs, pruning, animal control, plant propagation, environmental issues and community education.

After completing the course and a final project, Master Gardener volunteers must spend at least 30 hours each year on Cooperative Extension education projects. Master Gardener training is available every other year, and therefore will not be offered in Putnam County again until 2018. The fee is $375.
