Michael T. Durlacher (1932-2016)

Michael T. Durlacher, 84, of Beacon, died on Aug. 22, 2016, at Quaker Hill Manor Nursing Home in Hyde Park.

Born in the Bronx on Feb. 23, 1932, he was the son of Michael T. and Elizabeth K. (Revell) Durlacher, Sr. He retired in 1975 as a New York City police officer and was later an officer at Castle Point and for the Village of Fishkill. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, DAV-CAS Point, VFW Beacon, the American Legion and a Catholic War Vet-Newburgh. He attended St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon.

On May 2, 1978, he married Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Miller in the Bronx. She survives him. He is also survived by a daughter, Michelle Durlacher of Titusville, Fla., and five grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Aug. 26 at Libby Funeral Home in Beacon, with interment with military honors at Cold Spring Cemetery.

Doris Lynch Haug (1925-2016)

Doris Lynch Haug, 90, of Beacon, died on Aug. 20, 2016. She was born on Dec. 13, 1925, the daughter of James and Anna Lynch.

Doris graduated from Beacon High School and earned a degree in business administration from the College of New Rochelle. Her college roommate, Betty Haug, introduced Doris to her brother, Charles Louis Haug. They married and began their life together in Nashua, N.H., before settling in Beacon. Together they established a Catholic Marriage Club at St. John the Evangelist Parish. Doris also was active with the Oblates Community in Newburgh.

Doris cherished Beacon. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Hudson Valley Renegades and attended countless games. She especially enjoyed Broadway shows and the music of Glenn Miller and Frankie Valli. She will always be remembered for her laughter, sense of humor and her devotion to her family and God. She is survived by seven children — James Haug (Mary), Charlotte Haug, Anne Houghtalin (Gregg), Claire Denise, Mark Haug (Claudia), Paul Haug (Beth) and Bernadette Pickles (Mark) — 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Halvey Funeral Home, 24 Willow St., Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow St, with burial to follow at St. Joachim Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a church or charity of your choice.

Terry A. Johnson, 64, of Beacon, died on June 27, 2016. Arrangements were made by Libby Funeral Home.

OkPun O’Dell (1939-2016)

OkPun O’Dell

OkPun O’Dell, 77, who had lived in Beacon since 1979, died on August 17, 2016, at the Grand Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pawling.

Born in Kangwon, Korea, on February 4, 1939, she was the daughter of Chong U. Choe and Bong Sung O. OkPun. A member of the Hosanna Church in Highland, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and gardening.

On September 15, 1978, in South Korea, OkPun married Roger O’Dell, Jr., who survives her. She is also survived by her daughter, Angela O’Dell, of Beacon.

A service was held on Aug. 22 at the McHoul Funeral Home in Fishkill with interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
