Marlene Dee Goodrich, 63, a resident of Beacon who with her husband and son co-owned Momminia Avant Garde Jewelry Design on Main Street in Cold Spring, died Oct. 18 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Born Feb. 13, 1953, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of George and Ruth (Levy) Schwartz.
Survivors include her husband, Steven B. Goodrich; three children, Nina Kelliher (Mark) of Florida, Daniel C. Mamber (Bim) of the United Kingdom and Jesse Goodrich of Mahopac. She also is survived by her mother, Ruth Schwartz of Williamsville; two sisters, Raya and Wendy; one brother, Steve; five grandchildren (Bailey, Gabriel, Aiden, Veronica and Stella); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Momminia is scheduled to close Jan. 1 after nearly 20 years at 113 Main. Goodrich, who attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City and began her artistic career as a sculptor, designed most of the pieces in the shop. “As her work progressed it got smaller and smaller,” notes the store’s website. “Twenty years ago her art evolved into jewelry. Each piece she makes is a unique, wearable sculpture.”
Services were held Oct. 20 at Libby Funeral Home in Beacon, with interment at Fairview Cemetery.
