Cathleen Adams (1957-2017)
Cathleen Adams, 59, of Lagrangeville and formerly of Beacon, entered into rest on March 7, 2017.
Cathleen was born in Cold Spring on March 22, 1957, the daughter of Robert B. and Mary Adams of Beacon. She graduated from Beacon High School in 1975. She was always ready to share a smile and a helping hand with everyone. For many years, Cathleen worked at Craig House as a CNA and upon its closure, she worked as a clerk at Walmart. Cathleen loved to read and work her crossword puzzles and was always ready to spoil her nieces.
Cathleen is survived by her father, Robert Adams and his wife, Anne, of Beacon; her sisters, Susan and Mary Beth, both of Lagrangeville; and her brothers, Tim Adams (Lynne) of Waterville, Maine and Bryson Adams of Goshen.
A memorial service was held on March 13 at Halvey Funeral Home in Beacon, with burial of ashes at St. Joachim Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org) or the LaGrange Fire Department (lagrangefire.org).
Lucy Eustace (1941-2017)
Lucia “Lucy” Serino Eustace, 75, of Beacon, died March 7, 2017, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was a hairdresser and owner of LuRay’s Beauty Shop in Beacon.
She was born in Beacon on Dec. 12, 1941, the daughter of Carmine and Anna (Fasano) Serino. She enjoyed gardening and trips to the casino.
She is survived by her son, Raymond Eustace (Natalie) of Cary, North Carolina, her grandchildren Danielle and Jennifer Eustace of Cary, her brothers, Michael Serino of Beacon and Carmine Serino (Carolin) of Fishkill; her sisters, Emily Forbes of Fishkill, Rose Camp of Montgomery and Mary Williams of Fishkill; her sisters-in-law, Claire Serino of Poughkeepsie and Joan Serino of Beacon; and her friends Judy Stella, Josephine Pucino and Robert Schlegel.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held March 11 at St. Joachim Church in Beacon. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Nick Francese (1934-2017)
Nicholas N. “Nick” Francese, 82, a longtime resident of Beacon, died March 10, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Nick was born on in Wappingers Falls on Dec. 6, 1934, the son of Nicholas and Sarah (Trepepi) Francese, On February 12, 1956 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon he married Caroline Policella, who survives at home.
After his retirement from IBM in East Fishkill, Nick worked for P&K Tax Service in Beacon. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church and also a member of the St. Rocco’s Society, the Italian Center in Poughkeepsie, the Quarter Century Club of IBM and the Lewis Tompkins Hose Company for more than 50 years and later a member of its fire police.
In addition, he was a Pop Warner coach in Beacon, a high school football referee and softball umpire for many years. Nick was an avid Yankees fan and loved to travel with his wife, especially vacationing at the Jersey Shore. His family was the most important thing in his life.
Along with his wife, Nick is survived by his daughters, Susan Kenny (John) and JoMarie Fitzpatrick (Dare); his grandchildren, Gregory Fredricks (Melissa), Eric Fredricks and Kelly Rich (Marques); his great-grandchildren Aubrey Fredricks, Zoey Fredricks, Ellie Rich and a great-granddaughter expected in July; his brothers Vincent Francese (Jean), Frank Francese (Ruth) and his sister, Rosie Horton (Lou).
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, 24 Willow St., Beacon. Members of Lewis Tompkins Hose will hold services at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 17, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow St., Beacon, with burial at St. Joachim Cemetery.

Sandi Gallagher (1952-2017)
Sandra A. “Sandi” Gallagher, 64, died March 6, 2017, at home. The former co-owner of Shampoo Unisex in Hopewell Junction, she was a freelance magazine and short story writer.
Born in Beacon on Oct. 30, 1952, she was the daughter of Joseph and Marjorie Osterhoudt. On July 8, 1972, she married Dennis M. Gallagher at St. John’s Catholic Church in Beacon. He survives her at home. She is also survived by her son Mark Gallagher (Kristen) of Poughkeepsie and her daughter Erin Daniels (Timothy) of Rhinebeck, and her grandchildren Liam, Paddy and Declan Gallagher and Luke, Owen and Keegan Daniels. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Osterhoudt (Pamela) and her sister Deborah.
A funeral service was scheduled for March 14 at Libby Funeral Home in Beacon, with interment at St. Joachim’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
Nelson Perez (1931-2017)
Nelson Perez, 85, a resident of Beacon since 1972 and previously of Yonkers, died on March 10, 2017 surrounded by his family at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.
Born on Oct. 28, 1931, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Nelson was the son of Fernando and Adela (Valentin) Perez. On Nov. 27, 1971, in Yonkers, Nelson married Maria Dos Reis, who survives at home.
Nelson worked for Nabisco in Beacon as a machine operator. Although he loved cruising, gardening, and playing dominoes, his passion was for fishing. He eagerly looked forward to the beginning of the season each year. He was a gentle man and touched the lives of those who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Nelson is survived by his children, Jennifer Perez-Sample (Timothy Sample) of Beacon and Milna Perez of Rochester; his grandchildren, Brianna, Selena, Amber and Ty Perez-Sample, and Brenda and Johnny Perez; and his siblings Buena Bibiloni (David), Gladys Perez, David Perez, Fernando Perez, Luz Ramaza and Rosa Soto.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fernando, and brothers, Luis Perez & Ismael Perez, as well as his sisters, Nereida Vega and Hilda Robles.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 at the McHoul Funeral Home, 1089 Main St., Fishkill. A funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
Janet Tefft (1938-2017)
W. Janet Tefft, 78, of Beacon, died of lung cancer on March 10, 2017.
Janet was born on Aug. 19, 1938, in Leicester, England, and raised there. She is survived by her husband Harold, her sons Mark and Michael, and four grandchildren: Timmy, Courtney, Nicholas and William. Memorial donations may be made to Loros, a hospice center in Leicester (loros.co.uk).
