Chapter director to discuss advocacy on March 30

The Putnam County Democratic Committee will host a talk by Shannon Wong from the New York Civil Liberties Union at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, at the Mahopac Library. Parking is limited, so car pool if possible.

Wong is chapter director of the Lower Hudson Valley for the New York Civil Liberties Union. She will provide an overview of the NYCLU’s advocacy priorities, explain the legislative process and discuss ways to get involved. The topics will include ensuring quality public defense; protecting reproductive freedom; fighting hate, discrimination and harmful government action; protecting privacy; and protecting New York residents who are immigrants, Muslims, LGBTQ, minorities and students in public schools.
