Daniel Capozzi (1931-2017)
Daniel J. Capozzi, 86, of Beacon, died April 7, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.
Born on Jan. 21, 1931, in New York City, he was the son of Daniel J. and Delphine (Finnegan) Capozzi. On Oct. 17, 1959, at St. Joachim’s Church in Beacon, Dan married Margaret Hannon.
Dan was an account executive at Young and Rubicam in Manhattan for 20 years until 1979. He then worked at North County News in Yorktown Heights in advertising and as an editorial cartoonist until his retirement in 2007.
Dan was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. A 1953 graduate of Manhattan College, Dan was an active member of both the Manhattan College Alumni Association and Manhattan College Business Men’s Retreat Group. He enjoyed cartooning, creative writing, Turner Classic Movies and reunions with family and friends on the Beaverkill River. He was a devoted Brooklyn Dodgers and Mets Fan.
In addition to his wife, Dan is survived by his children, Mary Liz Lundgren (Larry) of Congers, Daniel J. Capozzi of Long Beach, Anne Capozzi of Manhattan and Suzy Capozzi of Peekskill; and his grandsons, Patrick Lundgren of White Plains and Thomas Lundgren of Congers.

Beverly Cypher (1935-2017)
Beverly A. Cypher, 82, of Poughkeepsie, died April 12, 2017.
She was born April 3, 1935, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, to William and Virginia (Corvin) Baughman. She received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She worked at the Howland Public Library, the Evening News and Ritter Insurance in Beacon and was involved with the League of Women Voters and Literacy Volunteers. She enjoyed needlecraft and collecting Depression-era glass, fine art prints and Art Deco/Art Nouveau decorative arts. She was an avid reader and keenly appreciated modern art, music, food, and cooking.
Beverly is survived by her daughter Elspeth B. Cypher of Assonet, Massachusetts, her son James L. Cypher of Highland, her grandson Austin J. Cyphersmith of Champagne, Illinois, and her brother, David Baughman of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Jean Baughman and her former husbands James R. Cypher and Peter R. McCoy.
A memorial service will be held in her hometown of Connellsville, Pennsylvania. Memorial donations may be made to the March of Dimes at marchofdimes.org.
Thomasina Virgadamo (1932-2017)
Thomasina M. “Tomi” Virgadamo, 85, of Beacon, died on March 31, 2017, at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.
She was born in the Bronx on March 6, 1932, the daughter of Thomas DeSalvo. On Jan. 31, 1953, she married Louis Virgadamo in the Bronx. She and her husband later relocated to Mahopac, where they lived for many years until moving to Beacon in 1986. He died in 2002.
Thomasina retired from General Electric, where she worked in the collections department at its facility in Danbury. She had also worked for the Bank of New York as well as the Yorktown Pennysaver.
She attended St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill and also participated with the Philipstown Seniors. She enjoyed being with her friends, whether it was eating out or planning trips with them. More than anything else, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she loved taking on new adventures.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Virgadamo (Karen) of Cold Spring; three grandsons: Anthony Virgadamo (Stella) of Wappingers Falls, Thomas Virgadamo (Meghan) of Beacon and Joseph Virgadamo (Laurissa) of Cold Spring; great-grandchildren Louisa, Leo, Antonia, and Magdalena; and her sister, Gloria Truppi of Hillsdale, New Jersey.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on April 4 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. Memorial donations may be made to the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement, Development Office, 41 Old Highland Turnpike, Garrison, NY 10524.
