Patricia Mackey

Patricia Mackey (1938-2017)

Patricia Schai Mackey, 79, of Bear, Delaware and formerly of Cold Spring, died May 2, 2017, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, surrounded by her children.

Born March 20, 1938, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Arthur S. and Virginia (Dean) Schai. She married Peter F. Curran and Perry R. Mackey, both of whom died before her.

Patricia was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Onley, Virginia and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 12-02 and the Women’s Club of Accomack County, Virginia.

Patricia received her bachelor’s degree from Keuka College was employed by the Putnam County Office for Senior Resources for many years prior to her retirement. Patricia was a frequent substitute teacher at the local schools.

She is survived by her children Pamela Mackey of Bear and Perry Mackey (Jean Marie) of Cheshire, Connecticut, her grandchildren Katherine, Elizabeth, Ann and Perry Mackey; her stepchildren Kathleen Hossler (Robert) of Smyrna, Delaware, Peter Curran (Cheryl) of West Hills, California, Maureen Lindner (John) of Hastings on Hudson, Gregory Curran of Garrison and Jennifer Curran of South Nyack; her sister Ginny Smith of Peachtree City, Georgia; her brothers Arthur Schai (Ila) of Lafayette, Indiana, and William Dean (Karen Schai) of Cazenovia.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 12 at Our Lady of Loretto in Cold Spring, with interment at Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor. Memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Senior Citizens of Putnam County, care of Putnam County Office for Senior Resources, Building A, Carmel, NY 10512 or St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Capital Campaign Fund, 25236 Coastal Blvd., Onley, VA 23418.

Ellen Snyder (1943-2017)

Ellen Lorraine Snyder, 73, of Cold Spring, died May 7, 2017, at Care One Nursing Home in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Born June 14, 1943 in Cold Spring, she was the daughter of Loren and Eleanor Rogler. A graduate of Haldane High School, she loved animals and helping others. She was kind to everyone she met and a loving mother.

She is survived by her children: Sharon Snyder of Crozet, Virginia, Lisa Mayo of Fenton, Michigan, and Barbara Urbanek of Tampa; her grandchildren, Ariel Snyder, Sarah Murray, Zoe Mayo, Quinn Mayo, Katherine Hankilevitz and Jonathan Urbanek; and one great-grandchild, Karene Hankilevitz.

Graveside services were held on May 11 at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
