Thomas Hranowsky (1955-2017)

Thomas Joseph Hranowsky, 61, a Beacon resident since 2000, died on May 28, 2017, at home. He formerly lived in San Diego and Rochester.

Born in Rochester on Dec. 8, 1955, he was the son of Joseph and Geraldine (Copenhagen) Hranowsky. He had been employed since 2000 as a network engineer for Sullivan and Cromwell in Manhattan.

Tom will be remembered as a long-suffering Cleveland Browns fan and audiophile. He enjoyed listening especially to the music of Bob Dylan, Kraftwerk, Bill Nelson and King Crimson. He was a lifelong pool player who had the honor of being selected to referee the 17th Annual Billiard Congress of America U.S. Open Pocket Billiard Championship 2000 World Pool Championship.

In 2000, Thomas married Kathleen (Fitzgerald) Hranowsky in Kingston, who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Emma Still of Philadelphia; William Still of Queens; and Zachary Still of Chatham; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sue and Joseph Beilman of Kerhonkson.

William Hustis

William Hustis  (1933-2017)

William A. Hustis, 83, of Beacon, died June 9, 2017, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Born Nov. 11, 1933, in Beacon, he was the son of Milton T. and Lillian (Stevens) He married Margret Hustis, who died before him, and was a retired boiler technician for Beacon Oil. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, BPO Elks and St. Rocco’s Society.

He is survived by his daughter Lillian Godbout (James) of Beacon; his daughter Barbara Moschiano (Michael) of Church Hill, Tennessee, his son, William S. Hustis of Beacon; six grandchildren: Loronda, Christina, Robert, Billy, Jaymi and Ryan; and seven great-grandchildren

Visitation will be held June 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Libby Funeral Home, 55 Teller Ave., Beacon, with funeral services June 15 at 11 a.m. at Libby Entombment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.

Victoria Jensen

Victoria Jensen (1944-2017)

Victoria Jensen, 72, of Millbrook, died May 8, 2017. Among her survivors are two daughters who live in Beacon.

She was born Aug. 27, 1944, in Pasay City, Manila, Philippines, the daughter of Marcelino Sr. and Generosa (Divinagracia) Hernandez. She graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 1965. Victoria immigrated to the United States in 1968 and married George Jensen in 1971. She earned a master’s degree in speech pathology from Central Missouri State University and worked as a speech therapist in the Kansas City Public School District before retiring in 2011.

She is survived by two daughters, Clarice Jensen and Christina Jensen (Matthew Agoglia), both of Beacon; her sister, Paz Hernandez Diaz (Bayani) of Manila; sister, Isabelita Hernandez of Fishkill; her brother Marcelino Hernandez Jr. (Rena) of Australia.

Memorial donations may be made to First Book, a nonprofit that provides books and learning materials to children in need.

Rosemary Thompson

Rosemary Thompson (1938-2017)

Rosemary J. Thompson, 78, of Beacon, died June 7, 2017, after a five-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born at home in Poughkeepsie on Aug. 25, 1938, to Angelo and Mary (Tiano) Colacicco. She married Woodrow P. Thompson, who died before her.

Rosemary was a 1956 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and a 1987 graduate of the LPN program at Boces in Poughkeepsie. She was employed at the former Highland Hospital in Beacon and Fishkill Health Center/Elant at Fishkill.

She is survived by her daughters, Leilani M. Thompson of Florida, Jeannine Lamoree (David) of Fishkill and Karla-Jo Lahey (Dennis) of  Beacon. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Daniel Lenihan, Rosanna Tyckoson (Andrew), Kari Lahey, Denise Lahey, Ashley Lamoree, David Lamoree and Kacee Lahey; and a great-grandson, Riley Anderson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held June 13 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 31 Willow St., Beacon. Her nephew Monsignor Gerardo Colacicco will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joachim’s Cemetery in Beacon.

Michael Urbanak

Michael Urbanak (1989-2017)

Michael James Urbanak, 27, of Kent, died May 26, 2017.

Michael was born Sept. 20, 1989, in Cold Spring, the son of Paul James and Patricia Anne (O’Flaherty) Urbanak. He worked as a roofer for Roofers Local 8 in Long Island City.

Michael is survived by his father, Paul Urbanak (Amy Knapp) of New Berlin; his mother, Patricia Anne Urbanak (Louis Bruno) of Beacon; his fiancée, Erin Flaherty of Cold Spring; his brothers, Christopher Michael Urbanak of Poughkeepsie and Paul James Urbanak, Jr. of Rhinebeck; and his sister, Megan Anne Urbanak of Beacon.

A funeral service was held on May 31 at Halvey Funeral Home in Beacon.
