The sixth annual River of Words trail installation, sponsored by the Hudson Highlands Land Trust and Constitution Marsh Audubon Center, continues at the marsh through July 9. It includes poems written by area students, including fourth-graders Patrick Locitzer, Asa Miller and Jake Powers from Haldane. Students from Putnam Valley and Cornwall also participated.

The poems were chosen from hundreds of entries. The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum in Cornwall will feature a Poetry Trail in September with more student work.

  1. Thanks so much, Greg! Though circumstances were challenging, what a wonderful video you made. And thanks, Highlands Current, for covering the Poetry Trail!

  2. My friend Diane and I are looking forward to our annual trek along the Poetry Trail. We are always impressed with the quality of the poems, the beauty of Irene’s calligraphy, and the serenity of the setting. It’s a pleasure to walk through the marsh and discover these gorgeous gems thoughtfully placed along the trail. Can’t wait!

  3. The Hudson Highlands Land Trust would like to say a very big thank you to Kelly House, our wonderful volunteer who did the calligraphy for the poetry banners. Her many hours of volunteer time really helps to make this trail happen and we are so grateful for her contributions.

  4. Thank you, Greg, for this wonderful video. You captured the spirit of HHLT’s River of Words Poetry Trail beautifully. And thanks to our volunteers who make the trail possible – Kelly House for lettering the beautiful banners, Amanda Erickson and Linda Lange for mounting them on driftwood, and Amanda and Brendan Hamel for helping us hang them at the Marsh. Special thanks to everyone at Constitution Marsh for partnering with us on this lovely installation and opening reception. I encourage everyone to visit the Marsh and enjoy the River of Words Poetry Trail.
