Diana Lapiano

Diana G. Lapiano, 74, of Garrison, died July 2, 2017, after a battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Peter and Wanda Bekisz.

She is survived by her daughters Dr. Dawn Smith (Andy), Kim Brathwaite (Henderson) and Deborah Hartman (Andy), as well as seven grandchildren. She also is survived by her sister Marlene DeLuca (Phil) and brother Peter Bekisz (Lynn).

A Mass of Christian Burial was held July 7 at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring, followed by burial at Cold Spring Cemetery.

Dr. Sabella

Dr. Ronald Sabella (1936-2017)

Dr. Ronald A. Sabella, 80, a former resident of Putnam Valley and Garrison, died July 5, 2017, in Naples, Florida.

Sabella was born Dec. 2, 1936, in the Bronx, the son of Albert and Mildred (Milo) Sabella. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Hunter College in New York in 1958 and his Doctor of Dental Medicine at Fairleigh Dickinson in 1962. From 1963 to 1973, he served as Captain of the Army Dental Corps.

For 35 years he ran a dental practice in Putnam Valley while also teaching at NYU and Fairleigh Dickinson. He later moved to Garrison. He was named a fellow of the United States Academy of General Dentistry in 1993.

He and his wife, Andrea Pink-Seifert, who survives him, retired to Naples in 1994, where he became involved in real estate sales and property management. He was a lifelong baseball fan and loyal to the Yankees.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter from his first marriage, Mildred Sabella, and his stepchildren, Drew and Dana Seifert. A memorial service was held on July 15 in Naples. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association (heart.org).
