The Howland Public Library’s middle- and high school Battle of the Books teams both brought home banners in the Mid-Hudson Library’s annual regional competition. The Beacon Buzzers won first place in the second annual high school competition held at Poughkeepsie Day School on Aug. 19, and the Beacon Bees won third place in the 13th annual middle-school contest held at Dutchess Community College on Sept. 16.
