New Graymoor facility to aid recovery

On Thursday, Nov. 16, at 11:30 a.m., the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement at Graymoor will bless the San Damiano Farm, a ministry opened on Oct. 1 to aid men at St. Christopher’s Inn in their recovery from substance addictions.

The farm will allow the men to gain vocational skills in farming and retail while also producing food year-round to offset the costs of feeding the more than 400 people who eat daily at Graymoor. Organic produce, flowers and Christmas trees will be sold, and the farm will work with farm-to-table restaurants to provide locally grown produce, as well as sell produce at the local farmers’ market.

The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement is a Catholic religious community located in Garrison. St. Christopher’s Inn, a ministry of the friars, is a homeless shelter for men in crisis.
