Doug Cole

Doug Cole (1935-2018)

Douglas E. Cole, 82, of Fishkill, died March 27, 2018 at his home.

He was born July 18, 1935. Following the sudden death of his parents, he was raised by his grandparents. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and volunteering at Castle Point VA Medical Center. He married Marlene Lucas.

Besides his wife, Doug is survived by his daughter Shelby Day (Joe) of Beacon and his son, Glen Pavelock of Beacon; as well as his grandchildren DeVante Pavelock and Joseph Day.

A funeral service was March 30 at McHoul Funeral Home in Fishkill, with interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA (dcspca.org).

Harry Garrison

Harry Garrison (1945-2018)

Harry E. Garrison Jr., 73, a lifelong Beacon resident, died April 9, 2018, at his home.

Born March 28, 1945, in Beacon, he was the son of Harry and Barbara (Butler) Garrison. On July 19, 1991, he married Katherine Young, who died in 2010.

Harry retired from IBM in East Fishkill. Later he devoted his time to helping people as a substance abuse counselor. He also enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his brother in-law, Donald Varian, and a nephew, Donald Varian (Amy). A service was held at the Libby Funeral Home on April 12, with interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

Chuck Kudan

Chuck Kudan (1924-2018)

Charles “Chuck” Kudan, 94, died April 8, 2018. Born Jan. 19, 1924, he was the son of Nathan and Mary Kudan of Glens Falls.

His wife, Georgia, died in 1998. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara O’Brien (Dennis) of Cold Spring; his grandsons, Devin and Aaron O’Brien of Brooklyn; his son, John Kudan of New York City; and his daughter, Elizabeth Kudan (Christine Ulrich) of Beacon. He also is survived by his brothers, Norman Kudan of Glens Falls and Rabbi Harold Kudan of Chicago.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.

Carole Niemiec

Carole A. Niemiec, 75, of Beacon, died April 7, 2018.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony Niemiec; her sister, Roberta Twomey; her children, Anthony, Lorraine, Craig, Chris and Eric Niemiec; and her grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Nicholas, Kristen, Elyssa, Aiden, Ashlin and Samantha and Marco Niemiec.

A service was held April 13 at the McHoul Funeral Home in Fishkill, with internment at Mount Hope Cemetery in Yonkers.
