Mount Pleasant resident, 25, died on May 8

A 25-year-old man from Mount Pleasant committed suicide by jumping off the Bear Mountain Bridge on Tuesday, May 8, according to the New York State police.

The man, whose identity was not released, parked his car on Route 9D, walked to the middle of the bridge and jumped around 5:50 p.m. After a report from a passerby, police reviewed security video. The Westchester County Police Department Marine Unit recovered his body around 7:30 p.m.
