Will discuss rights and what still needs to be done

Sandy Galef, who represents Philipstown in the state Assembly, will host a Community Conversation on Sexual Harassment at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, at the Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St.

Galef said she and a panel will discuss current policies, the statewide sexual harassment policy commissioned in the 2018-19 New York State budget, and the current environment of sexual harassment cases.

The panel will elaborate on what individuals can do to protect themselves, what to do in the case that you experience sexual harassment, and what New York State is doing about it. Galef said the goal is to explore the individual and systemic issue of sexual harassment, the role of gender in workplace power, legislative efforts to combat it, as well as legal landscape to handle complaints.

The panelists will be Sarah Brafman of A Better Balance: The Work & Family Legal Center, Lisa Lipman of the National Employment Lawyers Association of New York, Greg Chartier of the Westchester Business Council and Sarah Johnson, the Putnam County Historian.

The panel will be answer audience questions and share experiences of litigating, creating, and enforcing sexual harassment policies, Galef said in a statement.
