State awards $2.5 million for park project

As part of its 2018-19 budget, New York State will distribute nearly $13 million to 10 parks in the Mid-Hudson Valley, including $2.5 million to rehab the Highland Lodge at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center at Fahnestock State Park in Philipstown.

Highland Lodge will receive a $2.5 million makeover.

Fahnestock will also receive $250,000 to install a potable water system for the beach complex and campground, which will be closed this year for construction. Hudson Highlands State Park will receive $400,000 for energy and sustainability improvements and Bear Mountain will get $120,000 to enhance the Appalachian Trail at the Trailside Museum and Zoo.
