A power outage on Thursday (July 12) affected about 18,000 homes and businesses in southern Dutchess and Putnam counties, including in Philipstown and Beacon.
According to Central Hudson, the transmission line serving the region went offline after an equipment malfunction at a substation. Most power was restored within about 10 minutes, although the remainder took about two hours as crews rerouted power through alternate lines.
Ha, ha — it’s still “malfunctioning” 9 hours later!
