Hudson Valley Seed has named Hans Hageman as its executive director. He succeeds founder Ava Bynum, who left for another job.

Hageman grew up in Exodus House, a residential drug treatment center in East Harlem run by his parents. A graduate of Princeton University and Columbia Law School, he has worked with Cheryl Rogowski, the first farmer to win a MacArthur Genius Award, to plan a farming school for women, and most recently was interim executive director of Children of Conservation, an African wildlife sanctuary program.

Hudson Valley Seed works with school districts, including Beacon, Garrison and Newburgh, to teach students gardening skills. See hudsonvalleyseed.org.
