Beacon Gets Money for Sidewalks

Federal grant totals more than $170,000

Dutchess County awarded more than $1.75 million in development grants provided by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. Among the recipients was the City of Beacon, which received $170,728 to construct a sidewalk along the southeasterly side of Blackburn Avenue from Herbert Street to Fishkill Avenue.

A number of social service agencies also received grants, including Catholic Charities, Friends of Seniors, Hudson River Housing, Mid-Hudson Addiction Recovery Center and Rebuilding Together.
