Brian C. Reiniger

Charged with three felony counts

A Garrison man was arrested on Oct. 12 by Putnam County Sheriff deputies and charged with possession of an illegal weapon and narcotics.

After receiving a tip, deputies obtained a warrant to search the residence and vehicle of Brian C. Reiniger, 48, of 1627 Route 9 in Garrison. Narcotics officers recovered an unlicensed .357 Sig pistol, three magazines, additional ammunition and a quantity of what appeared to be cocaine. Due to past convictions, Reiniger may not be able to legally possess a weapon, according to the sheriff’s department.

Reiniger was charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, and a misdemeanor count of unsafe storage of a firearm.

He was arraigned before Justice Gina Capone of the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court on behalf of Philipstown Justice Court and remanded to the Putnam County jail without bail.

According to the New York State Police, Reiniger was arrested in October by troopers and charged with grand larceny after being accused of stealing $5,000 worth of landscaping supplies from a nursery in Somers where he was employed.
