Includes $502 million in spending

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro presented his 2019 budget proposal to the county Legislature on Oct. 29.

The proposed $502 million in spending represents a 3 percent increase over this year, he said, noting that programs mandated by the state and federal government account for 70 percent of the spending. Medicaid is the county’s largest mandated expense, at $41.3 million.

Molinaro’s proposal includes $25 million in infrastructure investments, including the replacement or repair of 13 bridges and 20 miles of paving; an expansion of the sheriff’s School Resource Officer program to seven districts, with 10 officers and a supervisor; and an additional $1.75 million for Dutchess Community College.
