Mark Ford

Mark C. Ford, 51, of Cold Spring, died suddenly on Jan. 14, 2019.

Mark was born Aug. 6, 1967, at Butterfield Hospital in Cold Spring, the son of Robert and Barbra (Dahlia) Ford. Known to his friends and family as “Sharkie,” he was a 1985 graduate of Haldane High School, where he played football. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Cold Spring Fire Co. and for the past seven years worked as a relief operator for Chemprene in Beacon.

Mark was a lifelong Rangers fan who grew up rollerblading on Church Street, taking slapshots at the side of the firehouse while “inadvertently” breaking a few windows. He enjoyed rooting for the Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. An 11-year member of the Cold Spring Fire Co., Mark could be found almost every weekend standing outside the firehouse ready to answer any call. He took great pride in contributing to the Cold Spring Junior Fire Academy as an instructor and mentor.

He is survived by a brother, Scott Ford, of Cold Spring, and an aunt, Mary Scalpi (Don) of Cold Spring.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott St., in Cold Spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Mark Ford Fund, care of Cold Spring Fire Co. No. 1, 154 Main St., Cold Spring, NY 10516, or to a GoFundMe campaign established to pay for funeral expenses.
