Sally McCloskey

Sally Anne McCloskey, 92, of Fishkill, and formerly of Beacon, died Jan. 12, 2019.

Sally was born on May 29, 1926, in Beacon, the daughter of George and Dorothy (Cooke) Greene. She grew up in Beacon and graduated from Beacon High School in 1945. She studied voice under Francis Coleman of Fishkill and appeared in many local musical productions and sang at a number of marriage ceremonies.

She married Joseph V. J. McCloskey in March 1950 at St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls. He was a former mayor of Fishkill, and they were married 65 years before his death.

Sally was a lifetime member of the Melzingah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Beacon, a parishioner of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Fishkill; a former longtime Girl Scout leader, and past president of the Beacon Social League and the Beacon Historical Society. She loved family, life, music, poetry and literature.

She is survived by her children: Michael McCloskey (Valerie) of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; Kathleen Scott (Steven) of Montgomery Center, Vermont; Barbara McIntyre (David) of Townsend, Vermont and Margaret Salamone (Anthony) of Rhinebeck.

She also is survived by her grandchildren, Sean McCloskey of Baltimore; Erin Mazzuca (Anthony) of Baltimore; Kelly McCloskey of Hopewell Junction; Marc Salamone of Rhinebeck and Meghan Salamone of Rhinebeck, as well as two great-grandchildren, Jordan Mayette and Avery Mayette of Hopewell Junction.

Services will be held at a later date.
