Fishing Season Opens

State stocks trout in select creeks

The state freshwater fishing season opened on April 1, and in preparation, the Department of Environmental Conservation stocked a number of creeks in Putnam and Dutchess with brown trout.

In Beacon, Fishkill Creek received 1,600 fish measuring eight to nine inches and 150 fish measuring 12 to 15 inches. In Philipstown, Foundry Brook was stocked with 90 eight- to nine-inch fish.
