The Putnam County Coroner’s Office investigates any death that appears to be due to criminal violence or neglect, suicide, overdoses or accident or that appears suspicious, unusual or unexplained. It also investigates instances in which a person died alone and deaths that occur in institutions. The county has three elected coroners (to ensure 24-7 coverage), who each serve four-year terms.
