Mary Connell (1959-2019)

Mary G. Connell, 85, a lifelong Beacon resident, died May 13, 2019, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

She was born Oct. 23, 1933, in Kingston, the daughter of the Rev. Phillip and Vera (Barnum) Goertz. She graduated from Beacon High School.

On March 21, 1959, in Hughsonville, she married Edmund Connell, who died in 2010.

Mary was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beacon; the Daughters of the American Revolution; the Order of the Eastern Star of Beacon; and Mount Hope Grange.

Mary is survived by her five daughters: Carrie Connell, Esther Carrington, Kathryn Galarza, Virginia Connell and Judith Connell. She is also survived by her sister, Jacqueline Moroau and sister-in-law Grace Short; and seven grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on May 17 at the First Presbyterian Church of Beacon, followed by interment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

Adeline Duquette

Adeline Duquette (1942-2019)

Adeline Elsie Duquette, 76, a lifelong Beacon resident, died May 10, 2019, at Vassar Brother Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

She was born in Beacon on Aug. 28, 1942, the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Tomlins) Duquette.

Adeline worked as a certified nursing assistant. She enjoyed simple things, such as being outdoors and coloring. She also was an avid cat lover.

Adeline is survived by her children: Claudia Ann Sharpe (Leonard), Keith Vazquez and Emiliano Vazquez. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Raquell Ann Rivera, Dezzaray Sharpe and Tonia Cook; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons. Services will be private.

Alice Zrodlowski

Alice Zrodlowski (1921-2019)

Alice Frances Zrodlowski, 97, a Beacon resident since 2011 and formerly of Hamburg, died on May 17, 2019, surrounded by her family at the Wingate at Beacon Health Care Facility.

Born on Aug. 26, 1921 in Lackawanna, New York, she was the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Koltys) Melewski. In June 1946, in Lackawanna, she married Stanley Zrodlowski. He died in 1991.

Alice was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church of the Lake, in Hamburg. She also enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandra Zrodlowski; her grandsons, Evan Zrodlowski (Carrie), Jason Zrodlowski (Tiffany) and Ian Zrodlowski (Keri); and her great-grandchildren: Emma, Lance, Jackson, Audrey, Lila, Dominique, Levi, Hadley and Judah.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 at the McHoul Funeral Home, 1089 Main St., in Fishkill, with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary of the Lake Church, 4737 Lakeshore Road, Hamburg, NY 14075.
